Wursthaus Kitchen Cooking School

Monthly cooking classes are held in our in-store kitchens. Great fun in a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy a glass of wine (or two! or three!) as one of our professional chefs shares their cooking skills with class participants in a fun and informative environment.

The modest registration cost covers all ingredients (and the wine!), and you can enjoy the fruits of your labours as you sit down together to eat the dishes produced and discuss cooking techniques.

Please note that our cooking classes are hands-on, so please come dressed to work in the kitchen. Comfortable non-slip shoes are important; an apron and sharp cutting knife would be handy.


Cooking with Tasmanian Truffles

Monday 18th & Tuesday 19th July

Tasmanian Black Truffles are now back in season! With the Tasmanian winter firmly set in, and Dark Mofo finished for another year, we all look forward to this rare delicacy, only seen once a year. It's not hard to see why, as there are many ways to use truffles to enhance the flavour of classic dishes.  In this cooking class, we will focus on classic Italian dishes such as freshly made truffled gnocchi with burnt butter sauce, freshly made pasta & truffle stuffed pasta, mushroom & truffle risotto with taleggio & parmesan, and truffle-stuffed chicken.  Participants will also be given Wursthaus chefs' special recipe for Black Truffle Icecream.  Cooking class participants will have the opportunity to purchase fresh truffles at a heavily reduced Cooking Class rate.  This class is packed full of value and would make the perfect gift for the avid cook in your family!

Winter Braising

Slow cooker recipes are always a family favourite, with their ease of preparation making no compromises on flavour!  Think delicious, hearty meals, from comforting soups and stews to casseroles and pot roasts that melt in your mouth - this is a class the whole family will enjoy all winter!  Participants will be treated to a glass of Tasmanian Pinot as they work through Wursthaus chefs' classic recipes for family favourites - such as Veal Osso Bucco, Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulders and Braised Pot Roasted Beef.
