Pierre Amadieu Gigondas “Romane Machotte” 2005

This wine is grown on a 60-hectare vineyard facing northwest overlooking the village of Gigondas. The grapes are all picked by hand followed by a 30 day cuvaison. Ageing is in 2 year old barrels for 15-18 months followed by bottling unfiltered.

85% Grenache, 15% Syrah.

Stephen Tanzer rates this wine as 91-94 pts.

“Ruby-red. Powerful, deeply spicy blackberry and kirsch aromas, with a suave mocha accent. Plush and sweet, showing deep dark fruit flavors, velvety tannins and impressive finishing persistence. Sexy stuff.”

To drink now to 2012.
