Telmo Rodriguez Basa 2007

Telmo Rodriguez Basa 2007

Telmo Rodriguez is one of Spain’s most celebrated winemakers. As well as looking after the wines at family property Remelluri (in Rioja), he’s making a wide range of wines from all over Spain under his own name. These are tremendously appealing wines: modern, but still showing regional typicity, they are beautifully packaged and offer great value for money.

This wine is made mainly from the Verdejo grape and comes from the DO of Rueda. Interesting wine in many ways, not least because Australian Sam Connew (head winemaker from Wirra Wirra) was assistant winemaker for this vintage.

Shows citrus and green fruits and leafiness on nose and a fleshy, fresh white with some depth and weight on the mid-palate balanced by crisp acid. Very easy to drink. Perfect with Spanish sardine dishes.
