Wursthaus Kitchen Cooking School

Monthly cooking classes are held in our in-store kitchens. Great fun in a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy a glass of wine (or two! or three!) as one of our professional chefs shares their cooking skills with class participants in a fun and informative environment.

The modest registration cost covers all ingredients (and the wine!), and you can enjoy the fruits of your labours as you sit down together to eat the dishes produced and discuss cooking techniques.

Please note that our cooking classes are hands-on, so please come dressed to work in the kitchen. Comfortable non-slip shoes are important; an apron and sharp cutting knife would be handy.

Class 1: Flavours of Sardinia

The island of Sardinia is a melting pot of Mediterranean culture, with a unique, diverse, and fascinating cuisine. Our Chef Freya will be running these classes, having worked at Australia’s top Sardinian restaurant, Da Noi in South Yarra. Freya will be taking class participants through some classic Sardinian dishes, starting out with 'Carta di Musica' (a classic Sardinian flatbread, served with olive oil, honey & pecorino); then on to the Sardinian delicacy Bottarga (mullet roe) alongside Martelli pasta (only the world’s best Artisan pastas); finishing with Sardinian recipes for braised rabbit and spring lamb. All dishes will be enjoyed with the finest Sardinian red and white wines.

  • Carta di Musica (Sardinian flatbread) served with olive oil, honey & pecorino
  • Spaghetinni con capesante (scallops) e Bottarga (mullet roe)
  • Ragu di Coniglio (braised rabbit with gnochetti sardi)
  • Agnello Limone (spring lamb with lemon)
  • Sardinian Vermentino and Cannonau Rosso wines

I would like to say how very much I enjoyed the “premier” cooking class for Wursthaus Launceston. Simon and Stephanie made us very welcome and the whole experience was excellent.
